Elliott Co. to Supply 17
Compressor Trains to
Saudi Arabia
Elliott Co. has been awarded a contract to provide all 17 compressor
trains for the new Saudi Aramco Total
Refining and Petrochemical Co.
(SATORP) export refinery in Jubail,
Saudi Arabia. The project is a joint
venture between Saudi Aramco and
Total S.A.
When complete in 2013, the Jubail
refinery will be a full-conversion, integrated complex with a variety of compression applications, including sour
service, hydrogen service and refrigeration. The project includes construction of distillation and hydrotreating
facilities, a conversion unit, a sulphur
and amine saltwater treatment unit, an
aromatics plant and a coker unit.
When complete, the Jubail export refinery is expected to process 400,000
bbl of Saudi heavy crude oil per day.
The order consists of 17 strings of
equipment, from small compressors to
large, multibody machines, to axial
and single-stage machines.
Oliver Conger, Elliott’s sales manager
for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said
that the order “spotlights Elliott’s wide
range of capabilities and technologies
for compression in refining applications
… and the confidence that Saudi
Aramco and Total have in Elliott.”
David Baker, Elliott’s regional direc-
tor for engineered products, said this
project represents an unusual oppor-
tunity for Elliott to demonstrate its ex-
pertise in all aspects of the refining
process in one project.
The Jubail compressor trains will be
built and tested at Elliott’s manufacturing facility in Sodegaura, Japan ;
